Identity Profile: Sleep Wrinkles (Compression Wrinkles)
Definition:
Furrows that result from skin distortion due to mechanical compression exerted on the facial skin against the pillow during sleep, and which become marked over time.
Internal and external causes:
Sleeping habits (position on the side or on the stomach).
How to reduce or eliminate:
If the wrinkles are shallow, use a hyaluronic acid treatment to plump up the skin; if the wrinkles are deeply set and have been present for a long time, consider aesthetic medicine with hyaluronic acid injections (an immediate but temporary solution).
Preventative steps to take:
Sleeping on your back; applying a hyaluronic acid-based treatment daily; using an anti-wrinkle sleep pillow.
