Function:   Antimicrobial, soothing agent, astringent, oral hygiene agent.

Origin:   Synthetic.

Concentration allowed by the EU regulation:   Up to 1% (as zinc) in finished cosmetic products.

Where to find it / Where they are found?:   Mouthwash, face serums, face creams, shampoos.

Health risks:   Suspected endocrine disruptor.

Environmental risks:   Bioaccumulative substance, persistent substance, aquatic ecotoxicity.
