Which lotion should one adopt when one has oily skin?

Shiny skin throughout the day, blemishes, enlarged pores... These are some characteristics of oily skin due to overproduction of sebum. Which lotion should be used on oily skin to regulate sebum production? Discover some tips for taking care of oily skin and reducing blemishes.

What is oily skin?

Oily skin is often caused by an overproduction of sebum. This excess sebum is the root cause of shiny skin, particularly in the T-zone area (nose, forehead and chin). Oily skin is also characterised by thick skin, enlarged pores, acne and blackheads. Oily skin is less sensitive than dry skin, as the sebum contributes to the formation of the hydrolipidic film that protects the epidermis.

Excess sebum on the skin's surface readily traps pollution and impurities, thereby clogging the pores. This is why oily skin is prone to blemishes.

How to take care of oily skin?

Oily skin needs to be purified to remove the excess sebum on the surface of the epidermis. Furthermore, it is necessary to adopt a treatment aimed at regulating sebum production. Oily skin should be cleaned morning and evening to rid it of impurities and unclog the pores.

Your skincare routine should begin with makeup removal, followed by cleansing with a gentle, non-comedogenic wash. Then apply a purifying lotion, followed by a moisturising cream designed for oily skin.

Which lotion for oily skin?

A purifying lotion is necessary to help refine the skin's texture, limit the growth of bacteria, and regulate sebum production.

The purifying toner from Typology meets these criteria. Containing salicylic acid, centifolia rose hydrosol, aloe vera and zinc, this skincare product is recommended for the care of oily skin.

Indeed, salicylic acid has an exfoliating effect and aids in the removal of dead skin cells. This active ingredient also restricts the growth of microorganisms, thereby helping to prevent the emergence of blackheads and the clogging of pores.

The hydrosol of centifolia rose soothes the skin while tightening dilated pores.

Zinc helps to reduce sebum secretion while limiting the growth of microorganisms.

Aloe vera hydrates and soothes the skin. It alleviates itching and irritation while toning the skin.

Pour a small amount of lotion onto a cotton pad, then apply it over your entire clean face, morning and evening. Use this lotion before your usual serum or moisturising cream.

This lotion is suitable for all skin types, particularly oily skin, prone to blemishes and acne tendencies. Discontinue its use in case of discomfort or irritation. It is not recommended for sensitive skin due to the presence of BHA.
