INCI name:   Octocrylene.

Function:   Stabilizing agent, UV absorber, UV filter.

Origin:   Chemical.

Concentration allowed by the EU regulation:   Up to 10% (in acid) in finished cosmetic products except up to 9% in aerosol form.

Where to find it / Where they are found?:   Sunscreen creams for adults and children, sun lip balms, day creams, tanning oils, sun mists/sprays, tinted creams/gels.

Health risks:   Suspected endocrine disruptor, suspected carcinogen, suspected mutagen (degradation to benzophenone with age), potential allergen, potential skin penetration.

Environmental risks:   Persistent substance, bioaccumulative substance, poorly biodegradable substance, atmospheric pollutant.

Additional information:   Anti-UVB sunscreen. Prohibited in the Republic of Palau and the US Virgin Islands.
