In which products can we find niacinamide?

Niacinamide, a water-soluble form of vitamin B3, is incorporated into skincare products, particularly due to its antioxidant properties. It is found in various galenic forms: cream, serum, or even toner. When applied to hair, it effectively combats oily dandruff and purifies the scalp. Discover the types of products that can contain this multifunctional active ingredient.

What is niacinamide?

Niacinamide is a water-soluble derivative of Vitamin B3 that possesses antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. As a reminder, Vitamin B3 is essential to the body; it can be found in many foods such as oily fish, white meats, certain vegetables, and so on.

When applied topically, niacinamide can enhance the texture of the skin and strengthen its protective barrier function, thereby limiting insensible water loss. This keeps the skin hydrated for longer, preventing the appearance of dehydration wrinkles. Niacinamide can also help to reduce unwanted pigmentation and fill in wrinkles, due to its collagen synthesis-stimulating activity.

Skincare products enriched with niacinamide.

Niacinamide is a multifunctional active ingredient. It caters to mature skin due to its antioxidant properties and its ability to stimulate collagen synthesis. It is also found in skincare products for combination to oily skin, as it helps to regulate sebum, reducing the occurrence of imperfections. Lastly, it is a valuable ally for dry and dehydrated skin: it promotes lipid production and restores the hydrolipidic film, reducing transepidermal water loss. In skincare, this active ingredient is thus found in serums, lotions, creams, masks. Being water-soluble, niacinamide is never present in a product composed of an oily monophase.

Targeted for hair, niacinamide stimulates the production of keratin, strengthening the hair fibre. Thus, this active ingredient is found in shampoos, conditioners, and masks. Moreover, its sebum-regulating action allows it togently eliminate oily dandruff and purify the scalp. Therefore, niacinamide is a component of serums intended for the scalp.
