How To Apply a Face Cream?

All skin types need to be moisturized daily. However, it is necessary to choose the cream adapted to your skin type and specially formulated for your age, because each skin type has specific needs that must be respected. Since the face requires special attention, the process of applying your cream must also be done with care. Follow our steps to properly apply your cream and optimize the absorption of the product.

The Right Steps To Take To Properly Apply Your Moisturizer

The face care routine must be divided into different steps, including the application of a cream. The latter comes after cleansing the skin with a care product that meets the skin's needs.

  1. First of all, you must remove your makeup to eliminate all traces of impurities. Make-up remover milk, micellar water or make-up remover oil, choose a make-up remover adapted to your skin type;

  2. You can then clean it with a lotion or a cleansing soap adapted to your skin type;

  3. Once these steps have been completed, you can wait 15 minutes to maximize the effects of your cleanser. After this time, your skin will be dry and ready to receive your face cream;

  4. Before applying your face cream, use your usual serum and possibly an eye cream.

Now comes the step of applying the cream, which requires precise gestures:

  1. Morning and evening on a perfectly cleansed skin and with clean hands, take a small amount of your cream, the equivalent of the size of your fingertip;

  2. Warm the cream between your hands to bring it to your skin's temperature and facilitate its penetration;

  3. Apply your cream starting with the cheeks, which are often the driest areas. Stretch the cream from the inside to the outside, two to three passes are enough. Avoid the eye contour area, which is more delicate and sensitive, as face creams are often not suitable for this area;

  4. Next, apply to the area around the temples using small circular movements to massage your face and stimulate blood circulation;

  5. Finish with the T-zone (forehead, nose and chin). Apply your treatment on your forehead with horizontal movements in order not to deepen the wrinkles and always from the inside to the outside. Do not use too much product on the nose: the pores are generally larger there and the cream can get stuck. Finally, apply moisturizer to the middle of your chin and work outward;

  6. Don't stop at your chin — the skin on your neck and décolletage is also prone to pigment spots, loss of elasticity and wrinkles. Therefore, apply a small amount of cream from the bottom to the top to go against gravity and avoid sagging of the neck;

  7. Before applying other products or applying makeup, wait about 5 minutes for the skin to absorb it.
