L39 - Day Serum for Blemishes

The bluish tint of this serum is naturally provided by copper PCA, recognized for its sebum-regulating properties, its astringent effect on pores, and its role in maintaining skin hydration.

Blemishes are the result of an imbalance in the skin, primarily caused by three factors: an overproduction of sebum, an accumulation of dead skin cells on the surface (hyperkeratinization), and a proliferation of the bacteria Cutibacterium acnes.

This anti-blemish serum targets the three main factors responsible for imperfections. With its antibacterial and exfoliating properties, succinic acid slows the proliferation of C. acnes while limiting skin thickening. Meanwhile, copper PCA helps to rebalance sebum production. In synergy, these active ingredients not only reduce various types of blemishes but also refine skin texture.

    Succinic Acid:
    Derived from a biofermentation process, succinic acid is an organic compound with antibacterial properties. It specifically targets Cutibacterium acnes, the bacteria involved in the formation of blemishes, and inhibits its growth. Succinic acid also regulates the proliferation of epidermal cells, thereby limiting skin thickening. This helps prevent pore obstruction and minimizes the risk of new blemishes forming. Finally, succinic acid inhibits the release of certain pro-inflammatory molecules, reducing redness associated with inflammatory blemishes.

    Copper PCA:
    Known for its sebum-regulating effects, the copper-PCA complex is a valuable ally for combination to oily skin. By tightening pores and reducing the activity of sebaceous glands, copper helps to prevent blemishes. Additionally, it disrupts the metabolism of bacteria and inhibits their growth. PCA, on the other hand, promotes the synthesis of filaggrin, thereby strengthening the skin barrier and preventing water loss.

How do I choose the right serum for my skin from among the different blemish serums available?

The choice depends on the type of blemish and skin type. The L39 Imperfections Day Serum addresses all types of imperfections with a lighter, aqueous texture suitable for daytime. The Local Blemishes Serum L61, also light and watery, is for evening use and effective against all pimples, especially blackheads and inflamed pimples. The bakuchiol imperfections serum L62 and purifying botanical blend P61 have oilier textures, ideal for drier skin in the evening. The bakuchiol serum targets inflamed pimples, while the purifying blend is effective against open and closed comedones.

Can this serum replace the other Typology imperfections serums? If so, which ones?

The serum can replace other blemish serums for both morning and evening use. It is still advisable to combine different active ingredients in a routine for optimal long-term results.
